"Cathedral Guardian"

These tiny stalactites began growing in 1932 when a trail tunnel was blasted through the limestone walls of the King's Palace. Now, 70+ years later, these baby stalactites have achieved a length of about one inch. Scientists believe that the gigantic stalactites in Carlsbad Cavern began their existence eons ago, just like these miniature examples.
