Bashful Elephant

Kings Palace – Carlsbad Cavern This unusual formation is the eroded remnant of a much larger block of flowstone. Created by mineral laden water dripping from the ceiling, the formation later became dormant. Flowing water slowly dissolved the calcium in the flowstone, leaving this small, aptly-named speleothem called the “Bashful Elephant.”
